Areas of work at the SHRI

The Researcher is part of the Research and Consulting team. The role involves developing the team’s priority areas and also working on various special focus projects for the Institution. The results of the team’s research work are intended to lead to direct policy, legal and social interventions to strengthen human rights in Switzerland.

Education and experience   

Lucien Schönenberg (he/him) is a social anthropologist and is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Bern. He has been working as a Researcher at the SHRI since March 2025 and leads on the ‘Multiple Discrimination’ priority area. His research work focuses on security policy and surveillance technologies in the penal system and the police.

Languages: German, French, English and basic Italian and Chinese
